Was pretty surprised to see the photos from other customers here. I originally bought a pair of these about 6 years ago at a store when it was the only option on the shelf for about 20 some odd dollars each on a 4,000+ mile trip. My husband and I are truck drivers and typically put things through hell. Not sure if there is an issue with the "fancier" metallic paint options for these thermoses but we have plain ones. Must've been in 2017 that we bought a second pair off of amazon so we could have 2 coffees at work on the road. I tried to look in my order history but I could not go back past 2018. We have used the heck out of these things and each one is still leak proof. My husband dropped his out of the semi once (damage in photo). I have dropped mine from the truck as well but believe it was in winter so no dents. Both had coffee inside. This is over a 6ft drop. One lid my husband forced the open close mechanism off in a way that it slightly stripped the internal parts. So occasionally when separating this one for cleaning I don't always get the open/close lined up correctly. I don't look at my lid to open/close it so it is fine for me. Sometimes it ends up in a slippy situation where it will not function and will not come out of the closed position but taking it apart and putting it back together fixes that. If I'm on the road when this happens I simply swap lids when I get a chance because I have 2 with me. So be careful if you decide to take apart this part of the lid. I honestly don't remember or think we are supposed to but I do.If there is one thing I will say that is a con but in my opinion can not be avoided if you want longevity in the temperature of your beverage is that the lids must be cleaned after each use. At least rinsed with hot water, and yes, taken apart. (my husband rinses but doesn't always take apart but hey that's his drink ware) Don't forget that 3rd small ring in the open/close mechanism. Like sippy cups and other complicated tumblers if you do not keep the internal bits clean but then randomly open it one day you're going to want to gag. If you aren't for keeping up on it I would suggest a different style tumbler.I do not put the lid or components in the dishwasher. The taste of the soap will linger. If I feel like doing a "deep clean" on the lid because I got lazy and didn't rinse them out and they sat for awhile - I let the pieces soak in hot water with some baking soda in it before washing with soapy water and then boil them with some vinegar spiked water.. If you're into using chlorine like some folk do with baby bottles there's that too. Sometimes coffee stains build up inside tumbler over long periods of use...I use baking soda paste to remove but for chlorine users that should work too. The silicone or rubber pieces of the lid are coffee stained but since I do not use chlorine and have not found a safe method I am okay with this. I have some baking soda residue left over on lid but I'm not worried about it.We do not do the "pre-heat" option. We did that on our first use but hit the road and I could not drink mine because it was too hot for about 4 hours. We hit the sack and when I woke up it was still actually lukewarm. I actually add some cool water or ice to my first coffee so I can consume it immediately and the second I just leave as is at 108F for drinking about 4-5 hours later (if I don't get into it earlier lol). All in all unless a MADE IN USA product pops up that is the equivalency of this tumbler at a reasonable price - we would buy again if something catastrophic happens to one of ours like perhaps running it over with the semi would probably do it or losing it or whenever the lid materials finally fail. I feel that any tumbler or coffee thermos we could have bought would either have at least the same wear or would have been ruined by now.
