This may be a little long, but…The first time I used the hardwood floor attachment the beater didn’t roll and there wasn’t much suction. We tried everything. The manual is wrong, there’s no air flow regulator. We called bissell and they talked us through several things. Nothing worked. They then had us unscrew the bottom to look at the belt and that’s when we noticed there were some plastic fins(not sure what else to call them) that were broken. The woman said “that’s the problem”. They said they would send us a new one and would receive it in 3 days and we did. We had thrown the box away and told her that. She said they didn’t want the original one back. I just got the new vacuum and it works perfect. We have new hardwood floors and 2 dogs and the suction is just right. It picks up just like we thought it would. The maneuverability isn’t the greatest, but that’s not a big issue for me. I carry it by the handle as I vacuum. All in all, it’s what I expected and am happy with it.I purchased this vacuum a little over 3 years ago, and have use it pretty much every week since then. The suction is great -- I'm continually amazed at how much dust and hair this vacuum collects each week. I wanted to share that I've had to order several replacement parts that I wasn't expecting to have to do (although I may just have had higher expectations of the quality of this vacuum's components): I've had to replace the Hard Floor Tool (the attachment that goes at the end of the hose, against the floor, and sucks up the debris) twice (I'm on my third one) -- it seems that the wheels get worn down so that this attachment quits working after a while. I've had to replace the Hose once after a split near the handle (there is a plastic guard that looks like it's supposed to protect this portion of the Hose, but this plastic guard breaks off within weeks of using the Hose). Of course I've replaced the filters, but that was to be expected -- I've done so every year or so since owning this vacuum. So in summary: this vacuum gets all of the dust and hair but may end up costing you a bit more than expected over time as the components wear out.We bought this because the claim of hardwood floor specialization. We did not concern ourselves that the carpet attachment was broken when it arrived as we have only one throw rug. At first the suction was marginal, but did an acceptable job. After about 18 months the hardwood floor attachment no longer works at all and there is not enough suction to pick up even a half a peanut and I keep the filter clean! We have resorted to using a small stick vac that this Bissell was purchased to supplant for general cleaning. This is not an indictment of Bissell, I have a very good Bissell steam cleaner, but this model vacuum is worthless.I’ve had this vacuum cleaner for a short while now. After reading some of the reviews and complaints, I can validate some of the shortcomings, but overall I find this to be a very good vacuum for hardwood floors, tile and linoleum. The vacuum I received must’ve been updated since I cannot find a way to validate the complaints others have written about. People complained about the wand falling apart and pieces falling off during cleaning. My cleaner came with what I am assuming are updates. All of the parts to the cleaner click to lock in place. I found this cleaner to have excellent suction, and I cannot validate a suction issue that others have had because apparently previous models had a form of suction control. This one does not. I can validate the power cord is a bit on the short side, but when I compared it to my shark steam mop, the cord is no shorter. I use this for my first floor in my townhouse and I only have to unplug it once midway through cleaning, so I don’t find this a terrible issue with this cleaner. It seems to be fairly sturdy and the wand is metal not plastic, so it does make it a little bit on the slightly heavier side, but definitely more sturdy than plastic. Some have complained that the cord rewind is too quick and hard, but I find it no different than any other cleaners I’ve had that offer an automatic rewind. I have not had any issues with suction. I clean the dust cup after every use, and the cleaner works perfectly every time. This was definitely well worth the money for what I wanted to use it for. The powerhead is suction driven, so it is definitely not for use on carpets. However there is a different Non-powered head that you can use on hard surfaces or low pile carpet such as throw rugs. All in all I think this was a good purchase and it is fulfilling my need.Prior to using this vacuum, I was using my ex-gf's (bless her soul) Dyson. I actually prefer the Bissell. The build quality is on par with the Dyson and the Bissell is quieter and has better suction, all for 1/3 of the price. The fact that the Dyson was noisy was convenient to drown-out the gf's screaming and outbursts, but now I have a better vacuum and better gf, so I couldn't be happier! This unit is pretty good and the suction is great. 2 plastic parts broke less than a month after purchase but it does not affect how the unit runs and it's still usable 100%. I'm a Canadian and the thing to look for is the replacement filters which there are two of.You can only buy them from the Bessel web site as Amazon does not sell them and for only one of each it comes down to 50 Canadian dollars. 2 small little filters for that price is grossly overpriced and one would need to buy 100$ worth on their site in order to have free shipping. Hello we're in 2019.. I would not buy again simply for this.Product is great for the price; however, almost immediately after first few uses, the cheap plastic holding the hose to the handle snapped off and had to be tied with a string. Other than that, product performs as advertised. Just wish they would have used a stronger material to hold the hose.I bought this mainly for hardwood floors. The suction is so hard you need to pick up the vacuum stick every time u go back and forth if u want it to pick up new dirt. So annoying and makes vacuuming take a very long time. So we tried the other head..the one thag toggles between carpet setting and floor setting. Its better but for some reason the floor setting scratched my floors on a couple occasions. So we don't use that setting anymore. Also a few wks after buying the vacuum, the little plastic piece that lets u store the stick upright, broke off. Very cheaply made. A couple months later a part of the hose is smushed. The vacuum still works but I would never buy it again. And wouldn't recommend it.J'adore le produit mais le morceaux qui tient le tuyaux était deja briser a la livraison et est très fragile, je crois que la compagnie n'utilise pas dutout le bon matériaux pour cette partie...
