Love these! They turned my HD800's into the headphones I always wanted. Gone is the higher frequency abrasiveness that was so punishing. It's been replaced with a sweeter airy clarity that's removed all the sharp painful edges. Now the bass is extended, balanced, layered & authoritative, really complementing the soundscape without over powering it. (My equipment:- HD 800, Schiit Lyr, Chord 2Qute DAC, Audioquest cables, Fureman power conditioner.) I'm trying other tubes (Genelex Gold Lion... nice, brighter, taut bass, need to burn them in some more). Also the Schiit Lisst solid state "Tubes"(Yuk...the bass was overpowering & 1 dimensional... kinda like Brock Lesnar working a punch bag...painful.) These JJ tubes are perfect for my ears & equipment, I'm new to the tube rolling game, I've got old ears that have been beaten up by too many loud motorcycles & concerts. But feel I've found my sonic nirvana.......ahhhhhh.....oh yes, this is all with regular CD's.
