Zojirushi is known to make premium home products and this carafe is reflective of that––this is a very well-constructed, substantial carafe. I'm a prolific tea drinker and instead of having to boil water multiple times throughout the day, I can do it once, fill up this carafe, and have hot water all day long. Per the instructions, I make sure to preheat the carafe for several minutes with hot water to ensure that it retains heat. The exterior of the carafe never gets hot and remains completely cool to the touch. Similarly with cold drinks like ice tea, I pre-cool with cold water to ensure that it retains chill. The pour is very steady and does not drip. It's completely safe to use and will not leak so long as you properly use the stopper button (see photos) and ensure that the cap is twisted on tightly!One side note: I have the gold version and I would say that the tone is akin to a rose gold and not a true gold. It's a beautiful color but something to keep in mind. I've placed a copper tumbler besides it to show its close hue.
