The good news : This makes our 15 year old DC07 Dyson perform much better. More power and draw from the beater bar! It was a good purchase and will extend the life of our much loved Dyson DC07. The clutch was not broken on the machine, we had replaced the brush bar assembly a couple of years ago, but over the past year, the vacuum was not getting as much off the carpet, there was a slight whining noise coming from the machine and the belt that wrapped around the brush bar was getting cracks. Replacing the clutch eliminated the whining sound, so that must have been the cause. So we ordered the clutch assembly and watched those simple videos on You Tube that make it look like you can fix your vacuum in 5-10 minutes ... no problemo right? The Bad news: It took about two hours to replace the clutch on our machine. Why did it take two hours? Every plastic part that you have to remove to get at the clutch required brute force, like it was jammed on there and you have to bust everything off with a screwdriver or whatever works. This made the repair a stressful struggle because there are moments where you worry about the vacuum cracking or permanently breaking. A little bit at a time, each part came off and I washed the old dust and scum off of everything and lubricated some of the parts with unpetroleum ointment so that they will hopefully not get stuck in place again. Also the three torx screws that you have to remove require a #15 torx screwdriver. If you can get a very long one with a magnetic tip, that would be ideal. There is one screw deep within a plastic hole tunnel that has moving parts, which must line up. It is next to impossible not to drop the screw inside the machine ( have fun getting that out) and it was impossible to put this particular screw back because you cannot see where it goes. This is where a long magnetic tipped torx screwdriver would hopefully help.In conclusion, I do not regret fixing the clutch, happy to have the vacuum performing better and getting up more debris, dust and hair from the carpets.Clutch belt broke. Replaced clutch and beater bar with new. Our DC14 runs like new again! Very, very pleased. My suggestions:1) Get a new beater bar too unless the existing one spins quite freely.2) Get the yellow gadget thing to help stretch the beater bar belt. You WILL be glad you have it. a) For me, this repair would be impossible without this tool. b) I've used it twice now to extend the life of our DC14 by years. I will need it again in about 6 years. c) Use it to remove your beater bar for cleaning. I was shocked at the gunk inside. I will clean every 6 months. d) a+b+c = money well spent.3) If you have weak hands, you may not be able to stretch the belts on your own even with the tool. Have a pal help.4) The video I used was missing a step. I found the missing step on another video then continued on with original.5) You will need a regular T15 Torx screwdriver, not just a T15 tip on a universal screwdriver. a) One of the T15 Torx screws is deep and narrow. My "replace the tip" screwdriver was too fat.Thank you for this replacement part!!! It was EXACTLY what I needed to bring my 10-year old Dyson D-14 Animal back to life!!! I was about to give up on the machine, so VERY happy to have found this replacement part. With the help of some very instructional YouTube videos I was able to install it myself fairly easily - the only hard part is the new belts are extremely tight and tough to get back on the roller bar, but with a little maneuvering, I got it to work. The old gal is working like BRAND new again!!! Definitely worth the effort to save the $200+ repair shop costs, or ditching the Dyson altogether. Watch the videos and give it a try if your roller has stopped spinning. This is a genuine Dyson clutch motor, buy with confidence. Installation is a somewhat challenging, due to how tight the belts are....which is a good thing. With a little patience, your Dyson will be running like new in no time.I second that. While changing the clutch might be a slight challenge doing so alone, I can definitely say I’m happy with this product for working as described. The vacuum repair shop said it would cost $200 to fix.Glad I didn’t let them sucker me. Awesome job for this clutch assembly!!!Good fit, got the vacuum back up and running. Good shipping time. Honestly would rather change this whole assembly rather than just the belt. You need to take it all apart to get at the belt anyway...These things need to be replaced every 8-10 years or depending on the usage. My recommendation is to change the entire assembly rather than messing around with the belts themselves. Worth the $30 for something that will last a long time. Highly recommended.Easy to install, works greatThe brush bar on my Dyson DC 14 had stopped working so I started by cleaning that and checking the bearings and as it was turning freely I investigated further and found the issue to be the smaller belt on the clutch, I was tempted initially to go out and buy a new cleaner however I watched a few you tube videos and decided it looked a fairly straightforward job to replace the clutch and ordered the replacement for £14.99, I could have just purchased the belt however for the price I thought it easier to replace the whole clutch. I did need to order a T15 Extra Long Torx screwdriver as the 3rd screw on the clutch cover is difficult to access and I also ordered a belt tool to make re-fitting the brush bar easier so the total cost of the repair was £32.95 as I also paid a bit more to get prime next day delivery. I'm sure it would have cost me more to take the cleaner to a repair shop, it was certainly cheaper than replacing the cleaner and I have the tools now for other jobs or replacing the clutch again at a later date.I would appreciate if you marked this review as helpful or not so that I can improve my future reviews. To be honest, this was the most amazingly daunting piece of vacuum cleaner spare I'd ever bought, however after watching a YouTube video to fit it, it became incredibly simple and works amazingly wellWould definitely recommend buying a long T15 Torx Screwdriver, as one of the screws on the dyson DC04 model is quite deepOther that that it is a 100% perfect for its useThank you KencosparesThe brush ("beater bar") on my Dyson had stopped spinning and hence not effectively picking up, but suction was OK with the "wand".Replacing with this clutch, with the help of youtube videos, resolved the issue at relatively low cost.I think it may have just been one of the belts but they seem a faf to replace on their own.Fitted in a few minutes to 18 yr old DC07. Main roller belt is slightly wider than the original, but fits comfortably. Does take bit of pulling to stretch over the roller, I used a screwdriver shaft.does what it says on the tin. genuine parts, fits properly. Definitely worth watching the you tube videos on how to fit it. Particularly, how to get the brush bar back on, as the rubber drive belt on this new unit is quite stiff.
