I have need this for a long time and I didn’t know it.I wanted a large metal cutting blade. I have a 15” cut-off saw, but for the most part, I use those discs that disappear into dust, getting smaller every time that you cut metal. A solid, 15-inch metal cutting blade is, well, let’s say NOT cheap. I bought a diamond blade for masonry work. It was not cheap either, but very necessary for what I need it for. It will cut rebar, as I witnessed my son doing, at least until I could actually utter something along the lines of “STOP!” Except it was much more colorful. It will not be cutting any metal in the future.Enter this 9 inch diameter blade. After spending a big part of a day using a 3 inch disc a few weeks ago, it was a welcomed sight. I guess I could have chucked it up in one of our big angle grinders, but I had a better idea.I pulled out a 9” miter saw that I had hidden from the wife. It still had the $10 garage sale tag she had put on it many years ago. Seriously, last century! It is a wood saw from a simpler time and it only cuts 90 and 45 degrees and it only cuts 45 degrees from one side. Back then, real men turned their work around, they didn’t need a saw that cut angles in both directions.I cut a piece of rebar for the first test. Nice. Easy-peasy. I doubled up the rebar. Nice, again. I kept this up until I got to 16 pieces of ½” rebar. At that point, I wrapped most of it with duct tape to prevent it squirming or even worse, launching an aerial barrage like warring Chinese factions would use. The blade had no problem cutting all 16 bars at a nice even pace. This was all due to the blade. The saw contributed maybe less than ¼ HP. A lesser blade would have bogged the saw down, if not stop it outright.I’m pretty sure that if I can fit it on the miter saw, the blade will cut it.I gave the blade 5 stars for its impressive performance and the fact that it resurrected an ancient saw, giving it new life in the 21st Century.PS After I tried out this blade on the old miter and before I published this review, the miter saw died. I have an old 10” portable table saw that I replaced with a nice Ryobi. I think that I may be putting the blade in that, just to try it out. That is, at least until I find another miter saw to use. I think that a metal chop saw will be more useful to me.
